Singh Winning As Others Bust Out All Over

Surgit Singh, the owner of Aluco Aluminium and Ventiss, has acquired 100% share ownership of Evolution Home Improvements, which was bought by Everest 2020 before it went bust from UKWDG when it went down the pan.

Evolution is described as a timber-alternative manufacturing company but is best known for its heritage windows, floors, kitchen tops and panels. It is based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire.

Singh actually founded Evolution Home Improvements before selling it on to the Masco Corporation in 2014. Masco Corp. divested itself of its windows and doors business in the UK – and the UKWDG was formed (it included UKW&D (or UK Fabrication) which made and sold windows and went bust late last year; Duraflex as its profile producer which went bust early last year; Phoenix; Door Panels which went bust in 2021; Seven Day, a network of trade counters, which has successfully been sold on; and Evolution which has now been sold on twice in quick succession).

Success stories

Evolution Home Improvements was one of the only UKWDG making a profit when the Group folded. Everest 2020 (and was born out of the bust Everest in that year) was quick to pounce. In mid-October 2023, Paula Chambers, CEO of Everest 2020 said: “I want to reassure Evolution’s trade customers that we intend to recommence trading the Evolution business as soon as is practicable. “The deal brings several opportunities in terms of product innovation and access to new markets. The longer-term aim is for both brands to drive the market for quality windows and doors based on performance and design styling.”

Singh winning

Taking control of Evolution once again, Surgit Singh, along with his experienced management team, aims to reclaim Evolution’s position as a leader in the timber alternative market. He says the strategic focus will be on innovation, sustainability and fostering long-term relationships with all stakeholders, including staff, customers, and suppliers.

Partners from ReSolve, the administrator to Everest 2020 Ltd on 24, said in a statement: ‘This sale to Mr Surgit Singh secures the future of the business as well as the jobs of all 60 of its employees’.
