Everest Evolution At Evolution Sees Jobs Saved

Everest has purchased the brand, order book and assets of Evolution from the now defunct UKWDG. Evolution is a manufacturer of timber alternative windows and doors. The firm is based in Biggleswade in Bedfordshire.

UKWDG (UK Windows and Doors Group) went into administration on 2 October 2023 with the administrator not holding any hope for salvaging the majority of the business. Duraflex, UKWDG’s profile extrusion arm went out of business earlier this year. The demises (which saw hundreds of employees lose their jobs) have led to fabricators and installers scrambling for new suppliers.

Everest 2020 Limited

According to Wikipedia, Everest Home Improvement was a British double glazing and home improvement company. The company was founded in 1964 but went into administration in June 2020. A new company called Everest 2020 limited was formed in June 2020 following the administration, saving 1,000 jobs in the process.

Evolution

Evolution was previously a profitable business unit within UKWDG. The acquisition will save many jobs. Importantly this development gives certainty to loyal trade customers who have been partnered with the Evolution brand for many years. Everest 2020 often fabricates for its own use and does not supply competitors. However a statement from the company says: ‘Continuation of supply to these partners is of the highest priority to Everest, whose primary focus will be on supporting Evolution customers navigate this change of ownership.’

All customers with outstanding orders with Evolution will be contacted to inform them of their estimated delivery date to complete their order. New orders will be welcome as the factory gets back up to capacity.

Reassurance

Paula Chambers, CEO of Everest says: “This is a significant milestone for Everest, especially following the recent supply agreement with Veka (which took over from Duraflex as Everest’s profile supplier). I want to reassure Evolution’s trade customers that we intend to recommence trading the Evolution business as soon as is practicable.

“We are keen to maintain and build on these long-standing relationships and have been working hard over the last few weeks to secure supply and create an investment plan for the Evolution business which will build on its previous successes.

“For Everest, the deal brings several opportunities in terms of product innovation and access to new markets. However, our priority is to maintain and build on the Evolution brand and operating approach and expand the reach of its business model.  Longer term the aim is for both brands to drive the market for quality windows and doors based on performance and design styling.”
