Thieves Strike At Nottingham Building Site

A warning has come for any company that leaves materials on site that they are not safe, as Nottinghamshire Police Force is appealing for information after thieves struck at a building under construction in West Bridgford in Nottingham.

Thousands of pounds worth of copper piping and stainless steel were stolen in the burglary. It happened after workmen had packed up for the day on Monday 7 August – it could have occurred later that evening or in the early hours of Tuesday 8 August.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and information about the incident. Investigating officer PC Lewis Cragg says: “I would appeal to anyone who may have seen people on the site between these times to contact us with information.”

In disguise

PC Cragg points out how easy it is for thieves to disguise themselves as legitimate workers: He says: “The offenders may have looked like builders, however, there shouldn’t have been anyone on site during this period.

“I’d also appeal for motorists to get in touch if they have dash-cam footage that may capture the offenders.”

Thefts from building sites are on the increase and even relatively small refurbs are at risk. Tool thefts have also hit an all time high fuelled by a disastrous economy and rising costs.”
