A couple who bought a 1902 double-fronted Victorian semi in Whitland, West Wales, found themselves in the that situation. The windows in the property were old, draughty, single-glazed timber sash windows which needed replacing. To fit modern timber sash windows proved to be very expensive and the alternative, fitting PVC casements, did not appeal.
