Mark Hickox of the Thermoseal Group reflects on how international growth is laying the foundations for a stronger, more efficient spacer bar operation at home.
He writes: For Thermoseal Group, 2025 has marked a turning point. Our focus on international growth has gathered pace rapidly and the capabilities we’re developing overseas are already feeding back into better quality and more dependable service for the UK market.
The domestic market for our IGU components is now a mature and highly competitive environment. As we’ve often said this year, a key way for us to expand our reach is to embrace the export culture of Fenzi Group.
And crucially, this isn’t global growth for its own sake. Every step we take internationally pushes us to improve, refine, and innovate. Ultimately delivering access to both higher quality and performance products and the confidence that comes from a more resilient supply chain.
Acquisition
The acquisition of Thermoseal Group by Fenzi Group has opened doors that previously took years to unlock. Through shared global collaborations and technical knowledge, we’re operating on an entirely new scale. I’ve travelled to exhibitions around the world, meeting MDs and sales teams from sister companies who are helping us gain traction in markets we could never meet alone.
That collaboration is influencing every part of the business, from machinery development, logistics, and chemical testing to production quality. Hot melt equipment, for example, is now being discussed daily in territories where we previously had only occasional success.
Technical teams across Italy, the US and the UK now compare product developments and market trends in real time. That insight allows us not only to compete globally but to continuously sharpen the materials and machinery we supply at home.
When you’re exporting into climates, production styles, and regulatory environments outside the UK, you cannot afford near-perfect – it must be perfect.
Delivering
Packaging suitable for a carefully controlled HGV delivery for the UK market is not designed to reach South America in one piece. And, when a customer is a 10-hour flight away, everything must be right the first time. That standard of precision drives improvements here too.
Our UK fabricators are already seeing the benefit through tighter quality control, more robust product consistency and boosted manufacturing efficiency.
2026
Global expansion. Technical leadership. Continuous improvement. For Thermoseal Group, the path to 2026 is clear. As we grow stronger internationally, our domestic customers stand to gain the most benefits through better technology, higher performance, and the confidence of a world-class supply partner.
