Fabricators See Timberweld In Action

Total Machinery Solutions' live Timberweld demo.

Total Machinery Solutions and the Masterframe Group recently hosted two open days to allow fabricators to see a live demonstration of the Timberweld method of welding flush sashes.

Held at Total Machinery Solutions (TMS) new factory unit in Rugby, the open days gave fabricators the opportunity to bring their own profiles and use Timberweld technology for themselves. Attendees also watched as Fastframe (Europe) Ltd created mechanical open-ended joints finished with corner plugs – and ad then created perfect corners using Timberweld technology.

Patented jointing system

Timberweld is a patented jointing system that makes perfect corners and creates an authentic timber-look butt joint effect on the outside and the inside of the window. The only way to achieve this, apart from jointing by hand, is to use the URBAN welders and end millers available from TMS.

“The open days were a fantastic opportunity to lead by example and show Timberweld. It’s one thing telling customers about Timberweld but it’s totally different to demonstrate live with confidence.”

Support

In addition to invitations sent directly to fabricators, systems companies such as Koemmerling also supported the open days and urged their fabricator customers to attend.

Barber says: “The key to the event success was having all the right people in attendance - machine suppliers, licence personnel, customers and profile company representatives. The standout comments from established mechanical joining companies were about the speed and quality compared to current production methods, plus the end cap and glass bonding saving. Needless to say we received several orders directly from the workshop day.”

Alan Burgess

“The demonstration days were a great opportunity to explain the finer points of Timberweld,” says Alan Burgess, founder of sliding sash window manufacturer Masterframe and inventor of the Timberweld technology. “Seeing the fabricators get involved, in particular the contribution from Fastframe, was fantastic. Judging from the attendance of the two days, it seems Masterframe, TMS, and URBAN will have a very busy 2020.”
