MAC Site Services has saved nearly £160,000 on a major high-rise window replacement project using the Stronghold Anchor.
The 15-storey project at Hammond and Dickson House in Stoke-on-Trent involved the removal of 250 original single glazed Crittall steel windows and their replacement with modern PVC-U units.
A project of this scale would normally have required full external scaffolding, at an estimated cost of £160,000. Instead, the owner of the building was looking for an alternative to scaffold and opted for the Stronghold, enabling the entire installation to be completed safely from inside the building. As well as delivering a six-figure cost saving, the approach reduced overall programme time, with the project completed two weeks ahead of schedule.
The Stronghold Anchor is a self-contained, internal barrier safety system designed specifically for window and glazing installers working at height. Fully tool-free and requiring no drilling or fixings, it causes zero damage to walls or floors and can be assembled by two operatives in under 10 minutes. Once in place, it provides secure anchor points for harnesses and load straps, allowing unrestricted movement while maintaining operator safety.
The system can safely span openings of up to five metres and support up to three engineers simultaneously.
“The Stronghold is an excellent safety system that has helped us complete the project safely and ahead of schedule,” says Martin Charters, the project manager at MAC Site Services. “Feedback from our fitters is incredibly positive and they have requested that any work at height, especially on tower blocks, is completed with the Stronghold. This is because they feel much safer being able to work from inside the building, rather than on a scaffold.”
