A Sweet Embrace For The Colour Of 2024

Sweet Embrace is being lauded as the Colour of the Year 2024. It is a delicate shade of soft grey with a hint of violet and a subtle metallic effect. Colour trend experts say Sweet Embrace has a gentle optimism that is understated yet liberating.

The colour has been determined by AkzoNobel which owns Dulux the paint company and Interpon the global powder coating supplier. (AkzoNobel bought ICI in 2008.)

Dulux will promote Sweet Embrace as the main player in a palette that includes a number of blues, greens and natural browns in metallic, smooth and fine texture effects.

Calm down, calm down

A spokesperson for Dulux says: “These shades have a natural calming and clarifying effect and will help a building be at home in the surrounding landscape allowing even modern, high-tech buildings to blend with the natural environment. The complementary palette will transform exteriors, interiors, lighting, furniture and furnishings across a wide range of sectors.

Interpon will promote the palette in the building products sector.

AkzoNobel says it Global Aesthetics Center has accessed more than three decades of colour research and analysis to ensure the Colour of the Year 2024 and its palette are on-trend.

Powder coatings

Bob Dirks, global segment manager architectural AkzoNobel Powder Coatings, says: “People today need simplicity more than ever. Wherever they are, they need a safe haven, a place where they belong.

“With 10 colours to choose from, mixing darker shades with lighter neutrals, this palette offers architects and designers the opportunity to create subtle co-ordination or contrast with the objects and buildings they design that will impress and delight for many years to come.”
