World Youth Skills Day Sees Emphasis On Apprentices

Before World Youth Skills Day on July 15 2023, Jessup Partnerships took the opportunity to shine a light on the importance of apprenticeship schemes in the construction sector.

Career builders

The Midlands housebuilder, with 24 sites, employs nine apprentices, who are given a platform into the industry by absorbing a blend of information and on-site experience to equip them for a career in construction.

With Jessup Partnerships, the majority of apprentices go on to gain full-time employment with the developer or approved contractors, meaning their skills can be improved further.

“At Jessup, our apprentices learn way more than just the practical skills that go into our developments.”

Integrity, honesty and reliability

“Developing a rich variety of trade skills is a crucial asset to developing a career in construction. A well as this, our apprentices are trained to work with great core values such a pride, integrity, honesty and reliability,” says Eustace. “We view apprentices as key for the future sustainability of our business and the construction sector.”

Approved contractors

To help develop practical and skills and instil these values, Jessup’s apprentices work with a variety of approved contractors, meaning they experience wide range of environments within the industry and therefore a variety of different operations and solutions.

World Youth Skills Day

World Youth Skills Day recognises the potential of young people as catalysts for change and commits to providing them with the skills and opportunities they need to build a prosperous and sustainable world.

Managing director at Jessup Partnerships, Chris Timmins, says: “Apprenticeships are a vital asset to our business and it’s rewarding to see how they grow their skills over time as well as becoming more well-rounded individuals.

“There are many young apprentices we see on site that we know are capable of becoming key players in the construction industry, so to help them on the path towards that is just fantastic. It’s not just us teaching them, either – our apprentices bring a fresh perspective to our operations and incredibly helpful bring new ideas to how we work.”
