Greggs is has also started to open drive through outlets.

A tasty investment

And if you have a few quid to spare (and let’s face it, the value of the pound in your pocket isn’t what it used to be…three weeks ago), then Greggs could be a good stock to hold.

Charlie Huggins, head of equities at Wealth Club, says: "Greggs is holding its own in an extremely challenging economic environment, with little sign so far of consumers cutting back on sausage rolls and pasties.

”The cost of raw materials, energy and wages are all rising rapidly and Greggs is significantly exposed to all three, putting pressure on profits. There’s a limit to how far it can raise prices to offset these extra costs, without ostracising its loyal customer base. Fortunately, their revenues are growing and the brand now reaches more people than before the pandemic.”
