Garden Doors – A Different Outlook

Installers and their customers who are struggling to choose between bi-fold or sliding patio doors may finally have their solution in Quickslide’s Quick-Glide slide and fold door system, writes managing director Ben Weber.

Bi-fold doors offer a fully openable space but require room for panels to concertina, while sliding doors provide sleek look yet limit accessibility. Now, Quickslide’s Quick-Glide slide and fold door is rewriting the rules and combining the best of both in one flexible solution.

The demand for door systems to fulfil that ever-popular desire for inside-outside living continues to grow, yet it has been clear for a while that the existing solutions have been forcing homeowners into a compromise.

Bi-folds are fantastic for fully opening up a space but they need a significant concertina swing arc, which isn’t always practical. Meanwhile, sliding patio doors work well in tighter spaces but limit the width of the opening.

We really wanted to create a hybrid that delivers the best of both, and Quick-Glide is our solution.

Independent panels

Each panel operates independently, allowing users to open just one section for ventilation or fully stack them for an unobstructed view. Unlike traditional bi-folds, Quick-Glide takes up minimal space while offering maximum accessibility.

With ultra-slim 122mm sightlines, Quick-Glide floods a room with natural light to create an almost seamless indoor-outdoor connection. It has no visible hardware apart from the main handle, giving it a clean, modern finish. The aluminium frame is strong and durable, with the doors exceeding British standards in weather, security, and cycle performance tests.

Differentiator

It offers our installers a real differentiator in a competitive market. We know homeowners will be keen to find out all about a door system that can give them everything they want. That is why we’ve also invested heavily in comprehensive marketing and sales tools to help our partners promote Quick-Glide effectively.

We have launched the Quick-Glide on-screen configurator to let customers visualise their ideal door set-up. This tool also features a lead generation and CRM system upgrade for installers, helping them streamline the sales process and improve customer engagement.

We see Quick-Glide becoming a staple alternative to bi-folds and patio doors and we’re continuing to expand our trade support to help our partners capitalise on this growing trend.

The response from installers has been fantastic and over 50 trade partners have already added it to their product ranges.

Homeowners love its combination of style and practicality, while our trade customers appreciate the support we provide in terms of marketing and installation. It has also been designed with ease of installation in mind, including a tap-in bead design to simplify the fitting process.

Product development

Quickslide developed Quick-Glide with its systems partner Invisifold and worked closely with trade partners to refine the design and ensure it met the needs of both installers and homeowners. We launched Quick-Glide after significant market testing and investments in R&D. We haven’t rushed to market like other manufacturers have done because we wanted to be sure Quick-Glide can become the go-to choice for trade professionals and homeowners alike.

Thinking outside the frame

With Quick-Glide we’ve designed a door that truly thinks outside the frame, giving customers a seamless connection between inside and out with total flexibility too. It’s the perfect blend of form and function that works all-year round. Homeowners want a door system that gives them all the options and now their wait is over. To be frank, Quick-Glide makes conventional bi-fold and sliding doors look outdated by comparison.
