Cascade Reigns For Rain In Rural Cumbria

The Cascade cast iron effect rainwater system has been used on a new development in rural Cumbria. This system combines the advantages of modern materials whilst blending with the traditional architecture.

In the village of Hayton and close to Carlisle, Fairfields is a development of nine, four-bedroom houses with traditional stone elevations, slate roofs and sliding sash windows, all built by Anvil Homes.

When it came to selecting a rainwater system, the housebuilder sought a solution that would look like cast iron but provide the benefits of modern plastic materials. The size and pitch of the roofs also required a semi-elliptical system that exceeded the drainage capacity of traditional half-round systems.

Brett Martin’s Cascade 115mm Deepstyle gutter and 68mm round downpipe in Classic Black was selected by Anvil Homes.

Cascade is UV stabilised for a maintenance-free system that will stay looking and working well for years. It comes with a 10-year guarantee.

Projects on track

Andrew Carr, a director at Anvil Homes says: “We have specified Brett Martin’s Cascade on a number of our developments as the system offers the closest match to cast iron in terms of aesthetics and performance. It is also lightweight and easy to install which is crucial to ensuring our projects remain on track.”
