Baby Boomer Set To Mature

The future was looking bright for Universal Composite Doors when we featured the company a year ago. Now we can safely say the ‘baby’ of the market is set for a prosperous new year – here we explain why.

The people behind UCD spotted a gap in the retail market for the supply of GRP skinned, foam filled and timber solid core doors.

They launched the business on the guarantee of ‘any style of door, in any RAL sprayed colour, supplied in 10 working days’. The company often beats that commitment and that is why it has become so popular with installers.

Improvements

With a new 30,000sq.ft factory with state-of-the-art plant and equipment and the appointment of a new factory manager, HR advisor and office manager last year, the operations and customer service improved during 2022.  This year customers will have a comprehensive brochure from which they will be able to choose new door designs.

The brand-new designs include stable doors and back doors with dog and cat flaps already in place; and there will be new functionality with internal handles on auto lock and extended thumb turns.

Decorative finishes

There will also be new glass designs and hardware options including antique black.

Easy ordering

A new online door design and ordering portal will be introduced in 2023 to make the buying process quicker and easier.

At the core

All cores are manufactured with the latest technology using thick GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) skins. The doors can reach a U-Value of 0.9 and also have excellent acoustic properties. They are tested to PAS24 and/or Secured by Design. A Universal door has a 25-year life expectancy.

Security

Universal doors are manufactured with a reinforced frame and secured with a multi-point lock with two hooks, two finger bolts and a deadbolt from well-known suppliers. They also come with premium adjustable hinges and keeps to meet the latest standards.

97% right first-time rate

Sales Director, Haydon Statham, told The Installer: “This year promises to bring together lots of things we have been working on over the past 12 months which will definitely result in even better outcomes for our customers.  We ended 2022 with a 97% right first-time rate in a year of tremendous growth when many competitors noticed a downturn in trade after the pandemic and post-pandemic boom. We had over 90 new customers join us in the past trading year.”

Statham adds: If you’re looking for a stress-free, customer focused way of buying your composite doors in 2023 then get in touch. Universal values building strong partnerships with all retailers and this means you’ll be sure of a personalised service where your business really matters to us.”
