Purplex Marketing’s MD Andrew Scott visited 10 Downing Street and in a bit of a coup for the glazing industry, even sat in the Prime Minister’s chair in the Cabinet Room.
Scott’s visit came at the end of January and at the invitation of his local MP for Weston-super-Mare, Daniel Aldridge. It offered a close view of the offices where some of the country’s most important decisions are made. Along with the Cabinet Room, Scott toured the State Room and other historic spaces where the fate of the nation are discussed before being presented to Parliament.
Our past does not determine our future
“It was both humbling and inspiring. Walking these halls reminded me that no matter where we come from, our past does not determine our future,” said Scott. “The future is ours to create and shape.”
The visit included discussions with Mr Aldridge on business, technology and the potential of AI. Scott emphasised the role of SME business leaders in engaging with politics. He told Aldridge: “Sixty per cent of private sector jobs are in SMEs, representing almost 17 million people. It’s important that business voices are heard and influence policy.”
Scott is now hoping to engage with government ministers on these subjects in a bid to help shape policies for the future.
Scott added: “This trip to reminded me of how valuable ambition and action are – and the opportunities still present in the UK for those willing to seize them.”
