Residence in Harpenden
A beautiful home in Harpenden, Hertfordshire, has been given a new lease of life thanks to Residence 9 windows from The Residence Collection. Expertly fabricated and installed by local specialists Harpenden Windows, the transformation combines traditional 19th-century timber aesthetics with modern-day thermal performance, as well as showcasing the architectural versatility and heritage appeal that makes residence 9 a popular choice.
The homeowner selected the Residence 9 (R9) window system after after visiting Harpenden Windows showroom. To honour the timeless style of classic timber joinery, the windows were manufactured using traditional mechanical jointing methods rather than modern welds. This manufacturing approach replicates the classic butt joints found in historical timber frames. Combined with a substantial 100mm frame depth and a high-performance, nine-chambered internal profile, and easy to clean fully foiled rebate, the installation provides the ultimate balance of period charm, structural strength, and modern security.
Finished in white woodgrain both internally and externally, the windows provide an aesthetic that complements the property's structural architecture. Tо achieve the specific heritage look desired by the homeowner, the design incorporates square leaded glass detailing s and elegant French casement windows (two-sided hinged sashes that swing outward from the centre without a permanent middle post) to maximise natural light. Decorative glazing beads have also been used on the interior.
