Mace Sets the Pace - BREEAM Build For London Tower

33 Charterhouse Street.

Mace has been appointed to build 33 Charterhouse Street - 10 floors of new office space with three terraces adjacent to London's Farringdon Station.

The 200,000sq.ft scheme is set to become one of Farringdon’s first smart buildings and will lead the way in sustainability. The design of 33 Charterhouse Street was awarded the UK’s first BREEAM 2018 new construction rating of ‘Outstanding’.

Mace’s team will apply its sustainability expertise to reduce the embodied carbon through a variety of measures including, low carbon materials such as ‘Earth Friendly Concrete’ and sustainable design measures such as a connection to Citigen’s district energy network to supply heating and cooling demand, solar PV panels and a biodiverse green roof.

33 Charterhouse Street is the third project Mace is delivering for Helical plc. This follows Mace’s recent completion of the Kaleidoscope, a commercial building delivered on a complex island site, above Crossrail’s Farringdon East station and One Bartholomew Close offering 223,000sq.ft of flexible office space in the heart of the City. The project is expected to complete in September 2022.

“We’re proud to work on such an ambitious project, which will raise the standard for sustainable office developments. The BREEAM outstanding recognition is a result of the strong commitment from everyone involved and we will continue to drive carbon reductions during delivery.”
