Glass Delay Gets On Hampton’s Wick

A house with a conservatory

A recent conservatory project got on the wick of the folk at Hampton Conservatories after the firm’s regular glass supplier was hit with supply delays. A call to TuffX got the project back on track – and lost the other supplier any future business.

The three-week job to install a medium-sized conservatory for a homeowner in Buckinghamshire was expected to be a straightforward task for the orangery and conservatory specialist.

453 Spectus windows and 115 doors are being manufactured and installed in the first phase of the prestigious new build Woodland Rise housing development in Lincolnshire.

The Ashwood Homes development, is situated on the outskirts of the rural village of Langtoft located 10 miles north of Peterborough. The new build site comprises of 35 luxury new homes made up of a mixture of 3, 4 and 5-bedroom properties. As you would expect from an Ashwood Home development, the traditionally built executive homes offer a high specification throughout – including all windows and doors.

Highseal Manufacturing Company

The project was awarded to experienced Spectus’ fabricator/installer Highseal Manufacturing Company. The business operates under stringent CE Markings and BSi Kitemark standards ensuring its  products meet approved document Q requirements.

The 453 casement windows, 41 front doors, 36 back doors and 38 French doors are being manufactured from the popular, Spectus Elite 70 PVC-U system.

“Partnering with Ashwood Homes on this prestigious new site will offer some fantastic properties with great characteristics. We know the quality standard of our windows and doors will meet the requirements needed and bring many benefits to the eventual home owners.”

– Holly Donaldson

Office manager, Highseal Manufacturing Company

First phase in colour

The 41 new first-phase plots were specified with a colour palette of Chartwell green, cream and anthracite grey foiled finishes on white to bring character to the new properties.

Working with other trades

The Highseal team is familiar with new build developments. The team continues to work closely with the client and all the contractors on site to ensure the window and doors are manufactured and installed in line with the timescales required. This includes transporting the various coloured window and doors and installing on a plot-by-plot basis with little margin for variation.

Construction of the Woodland Rise development began in April this year with all phases due to be completed by January, 2024.

Fortunately, TuffX has all it takes to get the wheels of such a project back in motion.

“We’d used TuffX before for our roof glass, so we went to them when we were having some short term supply issues with our other suppliers.”

MD, Hampton Conservatories

Job lost, jobs gained

“We chose TuffX because we’d previously ordered conservatory roof glass from them and found them to be a very reliable company in terms of both quality and time scale,” continues McIlreavy. “So now we’re currently using TuffX for most of our jobs.”

Many happy returns

TuffX was quick to step in, supplying 4mm toughened self-cleaning clear safety glass the project. Paul Higgins, TuffX’s commercial director, says: “We pride ourselves on being able to help where others can’t and offering a service that means customers return to us.”
