From Fom - Exeter Firm Bags First Italian CNC

Inside a factory

Exeter Trade Aluminium has invested in the FMC470, four axis CNC machining centre by Fom Industrie. It is the first to be imported into the UK from Fom’s Catalica factory in Italy.

Exeter Trade Aluminium manufactures Reynaers and AluK aluminium glazing products. The investment is to meet growth demands and to ensure a consistent service. It forms part of a  growth strategy which includes expanding into a new premises. The introduction of the new machinery will allow for faster, more efficient, accurate fabrication.

Exeter Trade Aluminium felt the FMC470 was the best choice in CNC machinery based on its size and functionality.  With the technical innovation and high-performance, high-precision accuracy that sits behind the FMC470, the four axis CNC machining centre is more than capable of supporting the fabrication of aluminium lift & slide doors, bi-folding doors, and windows.

The large scale 4-axis CNC is designed to maximise volume and optimise efficiency. The FMC470 is a very advanced aluminium CNC with the potential to complete very complicated tasks at volume, requiring minimum manual input.

Training

Training took place at the Fom plant in Italy, where Exeter Trade Aluminium’s production manger Luke Leaman, flew out for a week’s before delivery of the FMC470. Allowing the team to hit the ground running as soon as the machinery had been delivered and installed.

“We are delighted to be the very first fabricators in the UK to take delivery of the new FOM FMC470. The machine makes use of the newest CNC technology and will help us maintain our reputation for quality, whilst increasing the efficiency of our operations as we continue to grow.”
